The Big Ten Conference office announced today that Penn State hockey player Andrew Sturtz has been suspended for one game. Sturtz's suspension came following a hit late in Penn State's loss to Michigan this past weekend at Madison Square Garden.

As a result, Sturtz will miss the Nittany Lions' next game, a road contest on Feb. 5 against Minnesota. Sturtz lead Penn State with 13 goals and is only one of two Nittany Lions with double digit goal totals. Freshman Chase Berger is second on the team with 11 goals.

Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky addressed the suspension during his weekly media interviews but noted that while the suspension was the correct application of the rules that the severity of the hit was unintentional.
