The Penn State Lionettes won its third consecutive National Dance Alliance Collegiate Dance Championship over the weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida.

It was the first time at the competition that a team had won three consecutive championships. The team earned 9.615 points in the eight-team finals, beating out the University of Louisville by a mere .049 points.

The 27-member team was judged on three technical dance styles — pom, hip-hop, and jazz.

“The girls and I are excited to bring another national title back to Penn State,” said faculty advisor Sue Sherburne. “I am so proud of the girls for their dedication and effort to achieve this goal. We appreciate the incredible support we receive from the Penn State community and are happy to be able to give Penn Staters something more to cheer about.”
