by on May 15, 2019 2:00 PM

Five Penn State men's lacrosse players were honored as Inside Lacrosse All-Americans earlier this week.

Redshirt-junior Grant Ament was named IL First Team All-America on attack while senior Chris Sabia and junior Mac O'Keefe both picked up a spot on the second team.

Senior Nick Spillane was honored as a third team member and junior face-off specialist Gerard Arceri was an honorable mention selection.

So far this season Ament has recorded 109 points with 26 goals and an NCAA single-season record 83 assists. He is shooting .426 on the year and has 17 ground balls. Ament was named a 2019 Tewaaraton finalist and took home unanimous Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors.

O'Keefe leads the nation in goals with 66 so far during the 2019 campaign and has added a career-high 18 assists for 84 points. He has recorded three-plus goals in 13 games this season and is shooting .462 on 143 total shots. He too was a First Team All-Big Ten honoree.

On the other side of the field Sabia has recorded 17 caused turnovers and 37 ground balls and was named the 2019 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year earlier this season.

Finally, Spillane has registered 44 points so far this season with 25 goals and 19 assists. He has added 19 ground balls and four caused turnovers while racking 243 face-off wins at 63.5-percent. He has added 165 ground balls, good for 10.31 per game.

Penn State will return to action at noon on Sunday, May 19 vs. Loyola Maryland at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn . The Nittany Lions rolled past UMBC 25-10 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last Sunday at Panzer Stadium in State College.

"It will be nice not to hear people talking about Penn State never winning a playoff game," Penn State coach Jeff Tambroni said at the time. "To get over the hump like this… it's special."

A win on Sunday would send the program to the Final Four in Philadelphia, two wins shy of a national title game appearance on May 27th.
