Penn State Ranked Ninth In Total Revenue For 2017-18 Fiscal Year

Penn State athletics pulled in over $165 million in revenue during the 2017-18 fiscal year, a figure that is ninth best in the nation according to a USA Today database released on Monday morning.

As per most years, Texas finished atop the list with nearly $220 million in athletics revenue while Ohio State and Michigan both finished inside the top five at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. 

According to Penn State athletics' financial report to the NCAA for the 2017-18 fiscal year, Penn State football brought in more than $100 million in revenue, dwarfing previous figures. The Nittany Lions took in $34 million from ticket sales alone and $32.65 million for media rights.

The official total per the report sits at $100,240,568 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018, which is up from 2016-17 when the program brought in $81.2 million and just $68 million in fiscal year 2013-14. Football costs were just over $45.2 million. reported on these figures earlier this year. In total, Penn State experienced a revenue increase of nearly $100 million since the earlier reported figure in 2005 and a $20 million increase during the previous, 2016-17 fiscal year.
