Elaine Tanella, a Penn State undergraduate in bioengineering, has been chosen as the overall chairperson for the 2012 Penn State Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, THON organizers announced Sunday night.
As overall chairperson, Tanella will lead THON's Overall Committee for 2012, a 14-member group. She was THON's overall communications chairperson for 2011.
Tanella will succeed Penn State senior Kirsten Kelly as overall chairperson. Tanella was one of two candidates for the position in 2012, according to THON. Candidates appeared before the THON 2011 Overall Committee for interviews on March 20, a news release notes.
It says Tanella will begin her transition immediately. The rest of the 2012 THON committee chairs will be announced March 31.
