Penn State head women's basketball coach Coquese Washington interviewed on Wednesday for the vacant head coaching gig at the University of Michigan, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Penn State acting athletic director Dave Joyner confirmed to the newspaper that Michigan did seek out and was granted permission to speak with Washington, a native of Flint, Mich., about the job.

In five seasons with Penn State, Washington has amassed a 92-67 overall record, and a 42-44 record versus the Big Ten. The Lady Lions went 26-7 overall, 13-3 this past season in the Big Ten, and advanced to the Sweet 16, where they lost to Connecticut.

Washington was named Big Ten Coach of the Year following the 2011-2012 season.
