Penn State Women's Basketball Halftime Update: No. 7 Penn State 54, Illinois 33
It was a back and forth affair that made up the first half in the Bryce Jordan Center Wednesday night as the No. 7 Lady Lions led Illinois heading into the locker room.
After a gory start with Mia Nickson and Nikki Greene out with a bloody nose and mouth, respectively, the Lady Lions took a 21-point lead in the first half.
Penn State was able to put their free throw practice to work after the team was fouled 22 times by Illinois. Shooting 72.7 percent at the line, while the Fighting Illini made 60 percent, the Lady Lions put their defense to work making 58.6 percent of their offensive shots.
Maggie Lucas who scored 16 points, followed by Alex Bentley with nine, led the Nittany Lions. The Fighting Illini were led by Adrienne Godbold's nine points and coming off of the bench, Ivory Crawford's eight points contributed.
