Penn State Women's Basketball: No. 8 Lady Lions Roll Wisconsin for Third Straight Victory by More Than 20 Points
Final: Penn State 84, Wisconsin 40
How it happened: The Penn State women's basketball team started the game running and never stopped as it scored an easy 84-40 victory over Wisconsin in the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State jumped out to leads of 8-0, 17-4 and led, 46-21 at the half.
The 20-plus point victory by the Lady Lions is the third in a row, and it is the second time since joining the Big Ten that they have won three straight by 20 points or more. Penn State defeated Illinois, Indiana and Purdue by 20-plus points back in 2004-05 and this year have downed Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin by 20 or more.
The Lady Lions were dominating at the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, forcing the Badgers into bad shots and creating many fast break opportunities. Wisconsin shot just 26.4 percent from the field.
Turning Point: Penn State was never threatened Thursday night, starting the game with a 17-4 run and never trailing.
Player of the Game: Nikki Greene earned a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Alex Bentley with 14, Maggie Lucas with 11 and Ariel Edwards with 10. Bentley also added six steals and five assists in the game and committed just one turnover.
Stat of the game: Penn State held a 49-26 rebounding advantage and converted twice as many free throws as the Badgers attempted.
What it Means: Penn State improved its record to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten.
On Deck: The victory sets up a showdown 6:30 Monday night in Ann Arbor when the Lady Lions face Michigan in Crisler Arena. Both teams enter the game unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.
