Penn State Women's Soccer, Global Brigades Head to Nicaragua for Spring Break Service

When people think of spring break, they often think of college students heading south for beers and beaches. But for some spring break means service.

That's the case for two groups of Penn State students headed to Nicaragua for the next week on separate trips, both of which are designed to help others.

The water and engineering chapter of Global Brigades at Penn State designs and creates clean water systems for the developing world, and this year they're taking them to Nicaragua.

Penn State women's soccer also is headed to the Central American nation. The team is headed there to join up with Soccer Without Borders, a nonprofit organization that uses the sport to overcome barriers in underserved populations.

Centre County Report's Alyssa Palfey has more about these spring break service trips.
