Police Beat: News and Notes from the Scanner

The State College Police Department released some details of an investigation of a "suspicious male" who may have tried to get in the back door of a residence. Around 9 p.m. on March 30, the man tried to enter a house on the 2600 block of Pennbrook Lane, police said.

The female resident and her 6-year-old daughter only described him to police as about six feet tall with an average build and wearing a white t-shirt. The race of the man is unknown, according to police.

Police are asking that anyone who might have information on this man, or who may have observed suspicious activity in the neighborhood to contact the State College Polce at (814) 234-7150.

A laptop was stolen at 1:36 p.m. on Monday from a residence at 433 Orlando Ave., the State College Police Department said.

Police could not give a value of the computer, and said they could not confirm if the theft was connected to the other recent thefts in the Highlands area that have each involved the theft of laptops and some cash.

Penn State Police:

A sexual assault was reported to the Penn State Police on Tuesday, 14 months after the incident.

Police said a woman reported that in February 2011, a man, known to her indecently touched her in a guest room at the Nittany Lion Inn.

Police could not provide any additional information as the investigation is ongoing.
