Police Block Off Sweatshop Rally

Several Penn State employees expressed concern for their safety after anti-sweatshop protesters entered Old Main yesterday resulting in university police blocking the stairway to Penn State President Graham Spanier's office on the second floor.

According to the Daily Collegian, police prevented about 50 anti-sweatshop protesters from going up the stairs of Old Main.  The protesters were calling for Spanier to approve the Designated Suppliers Program which would require Penn State apparel to be produced in Worker Rights Consortium-approved factories.

Some family members of the 31 students arrested last week attended the rally.  (Read More)
