Police Investigating Assault That Sent One to the Hospital
State College Police are investigating an assault in which one individual was punched and kicked in the head and face multiple times, resulting in hospitalization in Altoona.
Police were called around 2 a.m. on Friday to the 100 block of East Beaver Avenue and were able to identify the victim at the scene – on whom the police did not release any additional identifying information – and found the individual to have sustained head and facial injuries.
The victim was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Centre LifeLink, and was later transported by ambulance to Altoona Regional Hospital for further treatment of facial fractures and a head injury, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an unknown male suspect, police said. The suspect was described as a white male, between 20-30 years old, wearing a black jacket and jeans and having dark spiked hair. The victim and the male suspect then became involved in a physical altercation, which resulted in the victim being punched multiple times, falling to the ground and being kicked in the head and face.
The suspect was reported to be accompanied by up to three other males, with one of the males possibly being involved in the assault. The suspect(s) and accompanying males were last seen leaving the area south on South Allen Street, police said.
