Police Investigating Downtown Burglaries

Two burglaries that each netted $3,000 in stolen goods occurred in downtown State College Tuesday evening and yesterday.

According to the Daily Collegian, the incidents are being investigated to see if they are connected.  The one burglary occurred at an apartment located at 238 East College Avenue and the second burglary occurred at 623 West College Avenue.  The apartments are about a mile apart.

An individual gained access to the apartment at 623 West College Avenue through an unlocked fire escape door.  Two bedrooms were entered and about $2,8000 worth of electronics were stolen.  There are currently no suspects in the robbery.

In a separate incident, someone broke into the apartment at 238 East College Avenue and stole a 32-inch Philips LCD Tv, an Apple PowerBook, and $40 from a wallet.  The value of the items stolen was estimated at $2,840.  A sleeping tenant in the apartment woke up during the burglary and saw his fire escape door close.  The individual was unable to provide a description to the police.
