Updated with comment from Ferguson Township Police Chief Chris Albright.

Ferguson Township Police are investigating a report of a man pointing a gun in public.

At about 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the intersection of West Beaver Avenue and South Osmond Street where an unknown male got into an argument with a bicyclist and during the exchange pointed a gun at him. The man then fled southwest in the direction of Corl Street Elementary School, police said.

"The bicyclist and suspect did not know each other," Ferguson Township Police Chief Chris Albright said. "Essentially they crossed each others' path and exchanged words."

The bicyclist called police and there were witnesses to the incident.

While Albright said police do not know the suspect's motive for pulling the gun, he does not believe there is a threat to the community.

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and medium build. He had dark hair and was wearing a black hat, a gray-black T-shirt, tan pants and dark shoes.

Anyone with information about this person is asked to contact the Ferguson Township Police Department at 814-237-1172 or 1-800-479-0050.
