Three women were hurt and cited early Sunday after a collision at South Pugh Street and East Fairmount Avenue, State College police said Monday.
It happened about 12:05 a.m., according to a police report. Police said pedestrians Alexa Abrahams and Jamie Frank, both 18-year-olds from Randolph, N.J., and Staci Kirsch, 19, of Morganville, N.J., walked into the path of an oncoming taxi.
They were cited for failure to yield.
Abrahams and Frank were listed as having suffered moderate injuries, with head and neck pain, respectively. Kirsch suffered minor injuries, police said.
The cab, owned by Golden Taxi and driven by Charles Edmondson Jr., 40, of State College, lost an outside mirror and had its windshield damaged in the crash, the report shows. Edmondson is facing no citations.
Abrahams later told police that she and Frank may have been looking at a mobile phone when they walked into the taxi's path, according to the report.
Later the same night, about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, two other pedestrians collided with another taxi at East College Avenue and South Garner Street, police said. No citations have been filed in connection with that incident.
The pedestrians in that matter are listed as Pascale Gutierrez and Martine Parris, both 21-year-old State College residents. They collided with a Handy Delivery cab driven by Jon St. Clair, 36, of Pleasant Gap, according to a police report.
Police reported that Gutierrez and Parris are believed to have been drinking, though no blood tests were administered. Only Parris was injuried; those injuries were listed as minor.
Also Monday, police said a Sony TV, a laptop computer and a wallet were reported stolen from a residence at 168 W. Hamilton Ave. The theft was reported at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, police said.
