State College police say a Penn State student was injured Thursday when she reportedly ran into the path of pick-up truck.

Police say it happened at the intersection of North Atherton Street and West Park Avenue at about 9:45 a.m. Eva O'Brian, 18, of Berwyn, was reportedly jogging in a no-pedestrian zone when she was hit by a pick-up truck driven by Zachariah Spicer, 24, of State College.

Investigators say the pick-up truck that hit O'Brian was heading south on North Atherton Street. According to police, O'Brian was wearing earbuds at the time of the accident.

Police do not expect to file charges against the driver.

O'Brian was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center and was later set to be transported to the trauma centre at UPMC-Altoona. Authorities did not immediately know the extent of her injuries.

Penn State Spokesperson Lisa Powers says O'Brian recently began attending classes as a freshman.

Police say the Penn State Office of Student Affairs was contacted and will provide assistance to the student's family.
