Police Say Friday Crash Was Drug-Related

Ferguson Township Police on Monday said that a two-vehicle crash on Friday night appears to be the result of one driver being under the influence of drugs.

At about 8:25 p.m. a 26-year-old driver of a Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on West Aaron Drive through the intersection at North Atherton Street and drifted into oncoming traffic, police said. The Elantra struck a GMC pickup truck that was stopped just before the intersection.

The driver of the Elantra had to be revived at the scene using Naloxone, which is used to reverse the effects of opioids, and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center, according to police. There were no injuries as a result of the crash.

Police said in a release that "paraphernalia associated with heroin consumption" was found in the Elantra.

The driver of the Elantra has not yet been identified, and charges are expected pending the results of an investigation and blood test.
