A Port Matilda teenager has been charged with vehicle theft, DUI and related offenses Tuesday after an overnight incident in downtown State College, borough police said.

Aaron Poorman, 18, was spotted driving a silver Buick Skylark with its headlights off, according to a police report. That was shortly before 1 a.m. on College Avenue.

Police soon pursued the Buick to the 300 block of East Calder Way, where Poorman and a passenger jumped out of the car and fled on foot, according to the report.

Officers caught up with Poorman a short distance away, police said. He told police that he didn't really know the passenger, who apparently managed to get away, the report shows.

Police determined that the car had been stolen, according to the report.

Poorman was arraigned before District Judge Leslie Dutchcot and is expected next to face a preliminary hearing.
