Update: Power was restored as of 1:30 p.m.

A power outage is impacting some parts of downtown State College on Monday.

Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St., announced on social media that it would be closed for the remainder of the day because of the outage.

A tweet from the library at 11:15 a.m. said it was closing temporarily, "due to power outages downtown causing safety concerns within our building." A follow-up said it would be closed for the rest of the day.

"[D]ue to the estimated repair time and the need to then get everything back online, we’re closing for the day," the tweet said #FingersCrossed we’ll be able to open as normal tomorrow."

According to the West Penn Power outages website, the outage is affecting 501 to 1,500 customers in State College. A crew has arrived at the scene and the current estimated restoration time is 2 p.m

The cause of the outage was still under investigation. At 10:35 a.m. Alpha Fire Company was dispatched to the corner of East Hamilton Avenue and South Allen Street for "a transformer arcing" on the first utility pole west of South Allen Street.
