on October 13, 2007 7:24 AM

Austin Scott, the Penn State football team's starting running back until he was suspended last week, has been charged with raping a woman he met at a bar.

The incident reportedly occurred at Scott's apartment on October 5th.  Smith was arraigned Friday on felony charges of rape, sexual asssault, and two counts of aggravated indecent assault, in addition to misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and simple assault.

Scott's attorney, Joseph Amendola, stated that the incident between Scott and the woman was consensual, and he is confident that he and his client will be able to prove that in court.

Scott, a fifth-year senior, was released on $50,000 unsecured bail and is still enrolled at Penn State.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17th.
