Repairs on Damaged Route 322 Bridge Set to Begin Monday

by on January 06, 2014 8:00 AM

You can expect lane lane restrictions on eastbound Route 322 starting Monday. PennDot crews are scheduled to begin repair work on a bridge near Boalsburg.

The bridge crosses Route 45 just east of where the four lane section of Route 322 ends.

The span was damaged last October when it was hit by an oversized load traveling on Route 45.

The 212 feet long bridge was built in 1971. It carries more than 8,000 vehicles every day with trucks accounting for about 25 percent of that traffic.

Eastbound traffic will be moved onto the shoulder when repair crews are working. That work will occur during daylight hours. Work restrictions will be lifted at night.

The repairs are expected to continue through January, depending on the weather. PennDot says the hauler that damaged the bridge will pay the cost of the repair work.
