Two tenants have been confirmed for the commercial space in the recently-opened Metropolitan high-rise in downtown State College.

Tadashi Japanese restaurant and Orangetheory Fitness will open in the 12-story building at 400 W. College Ave., Wes Rogers, president and CEO of the high-rise's owner Landmark Properties, confirmed.

"We're excited to have Tadashi Japanese Restaurant and Orangetheory Fitness coming to The Metropolitan," Rogers said in a statement to StateCollege.com. "We believe The Met is the best downtown housing option for Penn State students, and the addition of great food and great fitness options enhances an already exceptional, quality and convenient college living experience."

Opening dates were not made available.

Tadashi is currently located at 206 W. College Ave. It offers a variety of Japanese dishes such as sushi, ramen, Tako wasabi, Donburi, Hirata buns and Mochi ice cream, among others.

State College Borough Manager Tom Fountaine said at Monday's borough council meeting that an application had been submitted for a restaurant liquor license transfer to The Metropolitan, though the restaurant's name was not provided at the time. The borough is required to act on the application within 45 days. A public hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20 with a borough council vote on Dec. 4.

Orangetheory Fitness is a fitness center franchise headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla. It specializes in group personal training focused on heart rate-based interval training, a high-intensity workout combining cardio and strength training.

The first two floors of The Metropolitan, about 32,000 square feet, are designated for retail and commercial. The remaining 10 floors of the 146-foot building are residential. The apartments, largely occupied by Penn State students, opened in August. All 540 beds in 132 apartments were leased at the time of opening.
