Republicans Steve Dershem and Chris Exarchos and Democrat Michael Pipe will form the Centre County Board of Commissioners starting in January, unofficial county election results show.
With all precincts having been counted, Dershem, an incumbent, appeared to be the top vote-getter. He received 12,341 votes from county residents Tuesday; Exarchos, 10,858; and Pipe, 10,549, the unofficial results show.
Exarchos is a former commissioner who waged an aggressive campaign to return to the board. Pipe will be a newcomer to the board.
Incumbent Democrat Jon Eich, the sitting chairman of the three-member commissioners board, was the last-place vote-getter, the unofficial results show. He received 9,612 votes, according to the tally.
Among other contested local races in the county:
- Democrat Andrew Clemson appears to have defeated Republican Thomas Brown in the race for the Ward No. 2 seat on the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors. Clemson received 672 votes; Brown, 581, unofficial results show. In addition, it appears that Ferguson voters -- with a 1,564-to-1,438 decision -- have agreed to reduce the minimum-age requirement for township supervisors. That will allow Elliott Killian to be seated as the Ward No. 3 supervisor.
- All three incumbents in the State College Area school-board race appear to have won reelection. Challengers Amber Cistaro Concepcion and Laurel Zydney, both Democratic nominees, appear to have won, as well. Challengers Dave Cannon, Lydia Glick and Samuel Settle appear to have lost, the unofficial election results show. The vote tallies for the respective candidates are, according to those results, as follows: Incumbent Ann McGlaughlin, 7,073; incumbent Jim Pawelczyk, 6,840; incumbent Dorothea Stahl, 6,726; Concepcion, 6,741; Zydney; 6,690; Cannon, 4,855; Settle, 4,107; Glick, 3,390.
