Shortly after The Washington Post released Saturday its interview with Joe Paterno, Jerry Sandusky's attorney Joe Amendola released a statement to the news media.
The full text is posted below. In it, Amendola indicates that Sandusky is "greatly dismayed by the knee-jerk reaction of the Penn State Board of Trustees in summarily dismissing Coach Paterno and President Spanier without any evidence being presented against them indicating they acted inappropriately or failed to take appropriate action in response to anything Mike McQueary may or may not have told Coach Paterno, Tim Curley or Gary Schultz."

Jerry and Dottie Sandusky both admire and respect Coach and Sue Paterno and are extremely saddened by the events which have occurred since Jerry’s arrest on Nov. 5th. We have been greatly dismayed by the knee jerk reaction of the Penn State Board of Trustees in summarily dismissing Coach Paterno and President Spanier without any evidence being presented against them indicating they acted inappropriately or failed to take appropriate action in response to anything Mike McQueary may or may not have told Coach Paterno, Tim Curley, or Gary Schultz. We now know there are serious questions about exactly what Mike McQueary told these individuals in 2002 or was 2001? We believe Coach Paterno, President Spanier, AD Tim Curley and Gary Schultz did nothing inappropriate in response to the information provided to them by Mike McQueary and took appropriate action in response to that in formation. In the meantime, we’ll continue to keep Coach Paterno and Tim Curley in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery from their illnesses and Jerry and I will continue our work in preparation for this trial.
