Schlow to Host Family Fun Week

Schools soon will be back in session, but Schlow Centre Region Library has a full week of family fun planned before summer vacation comes to an end.

Family Fun Week, the library's traditional end-of-summer event will be held Aug. 19-24.

“We’re excited to celebrate the last week of the Summer Reading Program with our Family Fun Week,” Paula Bannon, head of children’s services, said in a news release. “Stop by to finish your SummerQuests, enter the final prize drawing, and try some of our fun programs that are happening all week long.”

Among the highlights, Dance Academy of State College will visit the Downsbrough Community Room on Tuesday, Aug. 20 to prese two classes introducing kids to a variety of dances, including jazz, tap, and ballet. “Tip Tap Toe!” is at 2:30 p.m. and recommended for children ages 7 to 12. “Kinderdance” is at 3:30 p.m. and recommended for children ages 3 to 6. Registration is required for these classes. 

Free summer lunches also will be served in the community room from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Giant Board Games  take over the community room from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, with games such as Connect 4, Scrabble and more.

Book Bingo is back on Thursday, Aug. 22 between 2:30 and 4 p.m. in the community room, offering a chance to play Bingo and win books.
