Serious Crash Closes Interstate-80, Freezing Rain Creates Hazardous Conditions
Update 11:07 a.m. PennDot says it has lifted speed restrictions on I-99 in Centre County and on I-80 in Centre, Clearfield and Clinton counties.
Freezing rain Wednesday morning created hazardous conditions across the region.
Interstate-80 is closed in both directions in Clearfield County due to a crash. The highway is closed between Exit 133-Phillipsburg and Exit 123-Woodland.
PennDOT has reduced speeds to 45 mph for Interstate-99 and Interstate-80.
CATA Bus Service says passengers should expect significant delays due to road conditions.
The State College Area School District initially announced a two-hour delay before canceling school for the day.
The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for the State College area until noon.
Up to one-tenth of an inch of ice could accumulate.
At the same time, temperatures are expected to reach the 40's Wednesday. However, anything that melts could freeze overnight creating icy conditions for Thursday morning.
