Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect for State College Area

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for Centre and neighboring counties, according to a bulletin posted on AccuWeather.com.

A powerful line of thunderstorms is expected to reach southern Centre County by 5:45 p.m., the bulletin says. Lightning was visible near State College shortly before 5 p.m.

Wind gusts as strong as 50 mph and pea-size hail may materialize in these storms, the weather bulletin notes.

Temperatures are expected to bottom out overnight just shy of 60 degrees, according to AccuWeather.com.
