Severe Thunderstorm Watch Upgraded to Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Update 1:55 p.m.

The National Weather Service has posted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for State College and surrounding areas.

A line of powerful storms is reportedly approaching from the west. These storms are capable of producing lightning and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

These storms have a history of causing widespread damage in Clearfield County. The NWS advises residents to move inside to be safe from wind and lightning.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning will remain in effect until 3 p.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service has just issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Centre County and surrounding areas.

A cold front will be moving in from the west, which could produce stormy weather. The main threat is gusty winds and perhaps small hail. Rain could be heavy in some areas.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.
