by on January 06, 2014 4:06 PM

The State College Area School District has canceled classes for Tuesday due to the forecast of dangerously cold temperatures.

The closure includes all district offices. All after-school activities have also been canceled.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Wednesday for the State College area.

The National Weather Service says there will be dangerous wind chills and it will feel as low as 34 degrees below zero. That means folks will be risking frostbite and hypothermia if they go outside without dressing properly.

"If you will be outdoors, dress in multiple layers and wear a heavy coat, hat and gloves," the National Weather Service warns.
