The State College Area School District is sending students home early Friday and closing its buildings because of an increasingly heavy expected snowfall in the afternoon and through the evening.

Students in the high school and middle school will be excused at noon and elementary school students will be sent home at 1:15 p.m., according to district spokeswoman Julie Miller.

Accuweather predicts between one and three inches of snow by this evening. Keep track of the weather, via Accuweather, here
