Today is all about the tree, so don't despair if you have yet to top yours yet. The best are only a few minutes away and have been operating in State College for years.
Here are the top places to find your tree:
Unofficially dubbed by the owners as the "largest cut-your-own-tree farm in Central Pennsylvania," Tannenbaum Farms is located 10 miles away from State College, at 161 McCool Road in Centre Hall, Pa., and patrons have been going there to pick out and cut down their own tree since 1996, according to its website.
Through Dec. 22, Tannenbaum Farms is open from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. every day.
Tannenbaum Farms carries several types of trees: Concolor Fir, Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Balsam and the Colorado "Blue" Spruce. Descriptions of each tree can be found here.
On the weekends, the farm offers a snack stand with warm treats for all to enjoy while they search for their tree.
More information including pricing, the tree-cutting process and directions can be found online.
Owners Larry and Marianne Kuhns have made Fraser Fir Christmas trees available to patrons since 1981 and they offer both wholesale and retail purchasing of their Christmas trees, according to their website.
Kuhns Tree Farm is on 2101 Boal Ave., and complete information is available here.
Harner Farm is located on 2191 W. Whitehall Rd. and according to their website, it is open from 9 a.m. until dusk Monday through Saturday and is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Cut Christmas trees are available.
There's also the Tait Farm, 179 Tait Rd. in Centre Hall and Meyer Dairy, 2390 S. Atherton St.
