State College Man Tasered Twice During Arrest

A late night altercation in a State College bar ended when police used a taser to subdue a suspect -- not once but twice.

It happened early Tuesday morning outside of the Phryst at 111 E. College Ave.

Police say 22-year-old Kevin Conway of State College was arrested after fighting with the bar’s bouncers.

When the police arrived at the scene, Conway was reportedly being held on the ground. Two officers tried to restrain and handcuff Conway, but he attempted to pull his arms back and stand up, according to police.

Investigators say Conway eventually did get to his feet, and dragged officers approximately 10 feet. That's when officers say they used their tasers.

According to police, the bar’s staff asked Conway to leave several times but he refused. While being escorted out the bar, Conway allegedly punched one of the bouncers.

Conway reportedly told police he was forced out of the bar for no reason, but did admit to fighting with the bouncers.

He is charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, simple assault and public drunkenness.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3. Conway was released on his own recognizance.
