State College police arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly attempting to break into an apartment while intoxicated.

Police arrested Paul Luther Lenker III following an incident about 5:45 a.m. Friday after he allegedly tried to force his way into an apartment in the 100 block of South Barnard Street.

Police say Lenker was believed to be intoxicated when he allegedly attempted to force the doorway open hitting an adult male resident in the head.

Lenker fled on foot before police arrived. Officers located him nearby and apprehended him after a short foot pursuit.

Police say the suspect did not have any connections to the apartment or victim.

Police charged Lenker with attempted burglary, trespassing, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.

The defendant was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Carmine Prestia. He was transported to Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.
