State College Police Department Takes Recruiting Effort to Social Media

by and on May 20, 2014 1:45 PM

If you hang around the Penn State / State College Twitter-verse, you probably follow, or have come across, @StateCollegePD.

The State College Police Department makes good use of its Twitter presence by soliciting tips on crimes and educating followers on how to live safely and legally.

Currently, the police department is in the midst of its biannual recruitment process. Like most other technology-embracing organizations, it’s taken to social media to bring in new recruits, but it’s not just using Twitter — it’s on YouTube too.

Check out this introduction to the department and the State College community. Not only will you get to know different officers who specialize in areas like domestic violence, polygraph testing, and crime scene investigation, but the video also includes a few pretty awesome staged scenarios reminiscent of “Cops” and “Law and Order.”
