The State College Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own, with the sudden death of Officer Robert Bradley.

Bradley passed away Monday afternoon while on duty.

According to a statement released to the media, Bradley was found unresponsive after stopping at his home at around 12:30 p.m., the result of an apparent medical issue.

Emergency responders performed CPR at the scene and while Bradley was rushed to Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was pronounced dead about an hour later. The Centre County Coroner will determine the cause of death.

Police Chief Tom King announced the tragic news during a borough council meeting Monday evening, calling for a moment of silence.

“[Bradley] and his wife Jessica have three children and a stepson,” King said. “At this really sad time for the family, I ask that you keep Bob and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

The 19-year veteran had been a member of the State College Police Department since April 1996.

Bradley is remembered as a devoted law enforcement officer and as a family man. "Throughout his career, Bob was an outstanding police officer providing professional service to the Borough of Stage College, College Township, and Harris Township. The community was very fortunate to have Officer Bradley serving them," says the statement from the police department.

"This is a very difficult time for the Bradley family, friends, and the entire State College Police Department. Bob was a wonderful person, husband, father, friend, police officer, and colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob's wife, their children, and the entire Bradley family."

Bradley was just 43 years old.
