State College Police See Rise in 'Crimes of Opportunity'

by on May 15, 2012 6:00 AM

The State College Police are investigating another theft of Apple products from a West College residence, but said they cannot link any of the recent robberies in the area.

At 5:46 p.m. on Sunday, a Macbook and an iPod were stolen from an unlocked apartment at 432 W. College Ave., police said.

However, despite the many reports that have come in regarding similar thefts from the same area, Lt. Robb said there is no one serial burglar, but rather several suspects who have seized a crime of opportunity to take what they covet, thanks to an unlocked apartment.

Robb said the police will find out who's taken one computer, only to have a string of others reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
