by on February 23, 2018 10:58 AM

The State College boys and girls basketball teams both head to the campus of Penn State Altoona on Friday night looking to claim District 6 Class 6A championships and a spot in the state playoffs.

Coming off a 50-46 playoff win against Mifflin County, the Lady Little Lions will face No. 1 seed Altoona at 6 p.m. The last time the two teams met, Altoona came away with a 48-38 win.

"It's a great place to get revenge on them and keep getting further into the state playoffs," said sophomore Maya Bokunewicz, who led all scorers with 19 against Mifflin County.

The State High boys, meanwhile, are in search of their fourth straight district title after a 22-1 regular season. The Little Lions take on Altoona at 8 p.m.

The last time the Little Lions and Mountain Lions met, State High won 87-56. But Coach Joe Walker isn't taking the rematch lightly.

"Any game at this time of the season, the team that executes better is going to be the one that wins," Walker said.
