State High Football: Little Lions Defeat Mifflin County 20-13
The Little Lions continued their winning ways, knocking off Mifflin County, 20-13, in the first-ever meeting between the two schools Friday night at Memorial Field.
State College took the early 7-0 lead with 7:52 remaining in the first quarter following an 11-yard pass to Jake Knouse.
Mifflin County responded three minutes later after a five-yard run by Kyle Kahley. The extra point was blocked, securing a slim one-point lead for the Little Lions.
A 97-yard interception return by the Little Lions gave State College a 13-6 lead followed by a missed extra point. A Mifflin County fumble gave the Little Lions the ball back with under a minute remaining in the half. State College capitalized on the turnover, taking a 20-6 lead in to the locker room.
Mifflin County brought the game within six after a touchdown with only 11 minutes remaining in the game, but the Little Lions held off the rally winning their third straight.
The Little Lions improve to 7-2 on the year and will finish out the regular season next Friday at home against Cumberland Valley.
