State High Football: Little Lions Fall to Harrisburg 33-12 on Homecoming
State College's Homecoming was spoiled Friday night as the Little Lions fell 33-12 to Harrisburg at Memorial Field.
Scoring on its first drive, Harrisburg (3-1) was able to take advantage of a physical front rushing for well over 200 yards and a 13-3 halftime lead in the Mid-Penn game.
State College (3-1) struggled to maintain a productive rushing attack and was forced to throw the ball in many third-and-long situations.
The Little Lions stopped Harrisburg with 4:01 remaining in the third quarter on the State College goal line, but were unable to move the ball after the pivotal stop. Harrisburg took over in State College territory and converted a short field goal to take a 19-6 lead with seven seconds left in the quarter.
State College added a late touchdown to bring the game to 26-12 with 6:40 to go in the game but Harrisburg pounded down a tired Litttle Lion defensive line.
Domonique Shurns ran for two touchdowns and accounted for 186 yards of total offense for Harrisburg. Jalen Williams added 144 yards on five carries. Darian-Davis Ray also ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass for the Cougars, who led 13-3 at halftime.
Ian Fennessey kicked field goals of 22 and 33 yards for State College and Darian Herncane caught a 34-yard touchdown pass. He finished with 148 all-purpose yards.
