State High Marching Band Performs in Grange Fair Parade
Hundreds of onlookers turned out for the 2014 Grange Fair parade Thursday afternoon, a lively affair that featured some high-energy music.
The State College Area High School marching band, with 175 members, performed the State High fight song, "Anchors Aweigh."
"Music is an integral part of the fabric of our community," says band director Paul Leskowicz. "As one of the five public schools that make up Centre County, it's important for our students to continue to weave music throughout the make up of our county. The opportunity for our students to perform at the Grange Fair is a highlight for the State College marching band."
Other parade participants included members of the Alpha Fire Company, the Centre County Commissioners and various 4-H clubs.
Becky Smith and Steph Tice took a break from working hard selling Penn State apparel at the fair to enjoy the parade with their children.
"I'm excited for all of it," says Smith. "Just to see the reactions on the kids' faces."
Thursday was the final day of the 140th annual Grange Fair in Centre Hall.
