State High Students Experience Crisis in Medical Disaster Drill

by on April 22, 2015 6:15 AM

The mock disaster was staged in the parking lot of Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, across the street from Beaver Stadium. It was set up to give Penn State Nursing students a taste of what they could face once they graduate.

The scenario: a passenger bus slams into a school bus resulting in scores of injuries. Sixty-five students from State College High School were cast as the "victims." With a little make-up magic, the students pretended to have a variety of injuries, ranging from broken bones to lacerations and even shrapnel wounds.

Emergency crews from across the region participated including Alpha Fire Company, Centre Life Link, Penn State Emergency Medical Service, Pleasant Gap Fire Company, Geisinger Life Flight and Mount Nittany Medical Center Emergency Room.
