Steve Earle, a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, is scheduled to play State College's State Theatre on Monday evening.

As of late Monday morning, the show was nearly sold out.

Earle, whose has produced for Joan Baez, been covered by Johnny Cash and appeared on HBO's "The Wire," among other work, is known widely for his accomplishments in rock and country music. He also is a writer and political activist, having protested the Vietnam War and the death penalty.

His stop in State College is part of a tour supporting his new album, "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive." Earle will be performing at 8 p.m. with his electric live band, The Dukes (and Duchesses) featuring Allison Moorer. will post a report and photos from Earle's concert by Tuesday morning.
