Summer's Best Music Fest Ready to Rock Downtown Saturday
All day live music, a street bazaar, pet parade and BMX demonstrations will take over downtown State College Saturday at the sixth annual Summer's Best Music Fest.
Presented by Northwest Savings Bank and sponsored by several local outlets, the Summer's Best Music Fest has something for everyone.
A complete performance lineup and schedule of events is available at the event's website.
Headliners include acoustic cover band Biscuit Jam, alternative group Spider Kelly and the Triple A Blues Band, first-place winners in the Billboard/Musician Magazine's' "Best Unsigned Band Competition."
People who purchase wristbands at the festival have the opportunity to save money while supporting local music. Special privileges and discounts – including complimentary bar cover – come with every wristband purchase.
A portion of the proceeds will go toward the State College Area High School District Heritage Fund in an effort to support local musicians in financial need.
Stages will be set up on Allen Street, Calder Way and on Heister Street – which will be known as the "Rock the Block" stage.
Roads will be closed accordingly. The festival kicks off at 10 a.m. with family band Picker and Papa on the Allen Street Stage and runs through 6 p.m., also at the Allen Street Stage, where 1980s rock group Archie Blue will close out the day.
Together with the State College Downtown Improvement District, major sponsors of the festival include Northwest Savings Bank, Jersey Mike's Subs, Big Froggy 101, and local news outlets.
