Tax Issue Settled Between Penn State & Centre County

According to the Daily Collegian, Centre County Commissioners and Penn State officials came to an agreement Tuesday evening that will settle a tax disagreement that led the county to file a lawsuit against the university.

The Centre County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement in which Penn State will pay $77,000 in additional in-lieu-of tax payments for properties including cell phone towers, 50 airplane hangars, and the Panda Express eatery in the HUB-Robeson Center.  Penn State did not pay taxes on these properties before.

The lawsuit was filed in August, citing a breach of the tax settlement agreement between the two bodies, to recover the lost opportunity to tax certain properties on campus.  (Read More)
