Torrential Rains Expected, Flash Flood Watch Posted for Thursday Into Friday
The National Weather Service has posted a Flash Flood Watch for State College and much of Central Pennsylvania, with soaking rains expected to arrive Thursday afternoon.
The Flash Flood Watch goes into effect at 2 p.m. Thursday and will continue through Friday afternoon.
A slow moving storm will spread across the region, producing thunderstorms and torrential downpours.
The storm is expected to generate up to two-and-a-half inches of rain, with even higher amounts in some spots.
Creeks and streams could rise quickly, especially in areas that have seen heavy rainfall in the past few days.
Drivers should be alert since the heavy rains can produce dangerous travel conditions.
According to AccuWeather temperatures will hit 80 degrees on Thursday ahead of a significant cool down. For the next several days high temperatures are expected in the mid-60s with lows in the 40s.
