Penn State junior guard Alex Bentley and sophomore guard Maggie Lucas have been named to the watch list for the Naismith Women's Award, given to the nation's top female college basketball player, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday.

Bentley is 23 points shy of 1,000 career points and would join 32 other Lady Lions in that club. Her 15.3 points per game scoring average is ninth in the Big Ten in this season, and she is in the top five in the conference in assists, free throw percentage and steals.

Lucas is second in the Big Ten averaging a team-best 18.7 points per game, picking up from last year's Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year campaign.

Penn State is one of 11 schools with multiple players on the list and the only Big Ten team. The Lady Lions travel to Texas Tech on Saturday for the Big 12-Big Ten Challenge. Tip time is 3 p.m.
