by on April 22, 2015 7:10 AM

Two people were taken to the hospital after a school bus reportedly hit a car near Mount Nittany Middle School Tuesday afternoon.

Fortunately, no students were on the bus.

The accident happened at 3:20 p.m. on Brandywine Drive near the turn for the Mount Nittany Middle School parking lot, according to a news release from the State College Area School District.

The car had reportedly stopped and was rear-ended when the bus driver could not stop in time.

The school district says there was considerable damage to both vehicles.

The car's driver was reportedly treated for minor cuts at Mount Nittany Medical Center. The bus driver was taken to the hospital for observation.

There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

A replacement bus was dispatched to pick up students waiting at the school.

State College police and the school district are reportedly conducting investigations.

The school district says it's not identifying the bus driver, but will take "appropriate action" after those investigations are completed.
