As former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky faces 40 criminal charges, The Second Mile -- the nonprofit organization he founded -- has issued a statement.
It reads in part: "While The Second Mile was contacted in January 2011 by law enforcement officials with regard to these charges, in November 2008, Jerry informed us that he had learned he was being investigated as a result of allegations made against him by an adolescent male. Jerry maintains that there is no truth to the allegations."

On Friday afternoon, the Harrisburg Patriot-News broke the news that charges of sexual abuse and related offenses have been filed against Sandusky.
"The charges included 21 felony counts and 19 misdemeanors," Patriot-News reporter Sara Ganim wrote. "They are: 7 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of someone under 16, 1 count of aggravated indecent assault of someone under 16, 5 counts indecent assault of someone under 16, 3 counts of indecent assault of someone under 13, 8 counts of unlawful contact with a minor, 8 counts of corruption of minors and 8 counts of endangering the welfare of children.
"The offense dates include 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2005."
An overview of the charges against Sandusky is posted on the state courts website. Details of the alleged offenses -- typically contained in an affidavit of probable cause -- had not been made public as of Saturday morning.
