Valentine's Day in State College
Christmas decorations were barely taken down before hearts and images of cupid replaced them, everywhere, indicating the holiday dedicated to love is just around the corner.
Downtown State College has everything you need to show that special someone just how much they're loved, from candlelight dinners to fine jewelry stores to a spa day or even some sultry lingerie. Local retailers said business picks up this time of year, whether it's corsets flying off of the shelves or the need to rearrange the restaurant floor.
"The Tavern has a long tradition of being a favorite place for Valentine's Day," said Pat Daugherty, owner of The Tavern, 220 E. College Ave. "We take all of our large tables and bring in two-tops instead."
On the other side of town, those seeking to pamper those they love can stop in Perfect 10 & More Day Spa, where a spa pedicure will last and hour and be something she'll always remember.
Down the road at Jezebel's Lingerie, 366 E. College Ave., Patty Stover, the store owner, said a major shipment of corsets is on its way in and will arrive in the next few days.
They come in a lot of colors, Stover said, though the most popular picks this time of year are black and red.
