Valley Vista Drive Sheetz Set to Reopen
After closing in November, a rebuilt and much larger Sheetz on Valley Vista Drive in Patton Township is ready to reopen.
The location will be open for business at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Sheetz public relations manager Nick Ruffner. The reopening was initially planned for Thursday morning.
"It’s opening a couple days before the Blue White Game," Ruffner said. "I know they wanted to get it up and running and get customers in a few days before that."
The new store is approximately 7,100 square feet, making it one of the larger locations in the Sheetz portfolio. The Valley Vista Drive location also will become the second Sheetz in the State College area to sell beer, joining the store on South Pugh Street in State College, which opened in 2015.
"It’s really a very different store than what was there," Ruffner said. "This is going to be one of our larger stores. There’s going to be plenty of seating."
The previous store was torn down and the new one built to be set further back from the road. The number of gas pumps was reduced from 18 to 12.
Ruffner said each year Sheetz typically opens 30 new stores and rebuilds 10.
"We often go in and rebuild stores to keep them fresh and ensure we are providing total customer satisfaction," Ruffner said.
The Altoona-based company has nearly 600 stores in six states. A second Patton Township Sheetz -- and sixth in the State College area -- is expected to open later this year, with a nearly 6,000 square foot location at Patton Town Center on Colonnade Boulevard currently under construction.
